Megan's First Day of First Grade

I can't believe my baby is in the first grade!! It does not seem possible. During the last year, Greg and I spent so much time talking about and visiting different schools that Megan has been so ready to get to first grade. She even got her backpack in February! With Megan's learning difference and language delay, we felt it was critical that we send her to the school that could best fit her needs. We toured schools, talked to people, talked it out with each other and our families, and prayed about it. Finally in May, we had it all figured out. Or so we thought. Until Greg woke up in the middle of the night in late June in a panic! Back in the Spring, we found a school in Kentucky that started a program for children with learning differences. We decided to send all Megan's reports, and she met 13 out of 15 criteria. Wow! We went to visit in July and decided we needed to go for it. Never did we imagine we would see the changes in our little girl so quickly!! We get several emails a week from her teacher telling us that she has either read something challenging almost perfectly the first time through or that she has excelled in math that day. In one week, she has gone from finishing 8 math facts in 2 minutes to 20 in 2 minutes!! Last night she was even making up math problems and answering them on her own! Just for fun! We are so thankful for the dedicated teachers at her new school and the wonderful team of people in Memphis who have worked with our baby over the last few years! We are especially thankful that Megan is finding her confidence and a love for school! God is so good and has answered our prayers!
